“What Will The Society Think of You?”

                                                                 – Sudhanshu Joshi

Each one of us has experienced a process that holds a place in bold amongst the normal text of life:Dreaming! A process in which you dare to think about things which makes you happy and a process that is narrated by the voice of your heart rather than the mind. But the harsh reality is,there are a very few people who dare to chase their dream and give it a real existence. Observing this situation, my mind compelled me to think the WHY behind it. In search of these answers, I concluded with the fact that more than ourselves we let others hold the power to channelize our dreams or our interests.

I wonder at times that how a world that seems so selfish and engaged in its own universe starts caring too much about the people around them. The sad part here is that despite seeing so much care for others I fail to observe it in the real sense. You love doing a certain activity which induces a lot of happiness in you and fills you with the feeling of satisfaction. But before pursuing to fulfill that dream of yours, you bombard yourself with the concept of “What Will The Society Think of You?”.

Wait, Rethink and Reconsider all the ideologies and try to figure out the answers of some questions with all your honesty and let your heart speak the answers for you.

Have you ever come across a situation when you permitted others perception to lead your aspirations and desire? If yes, Why? Ask yourself honestly, Were there times when you and your friend talked about a third person with thoughts of negativity? If yes, then just think again! Did that communication between you and your friend affect the third person in any sense? Obviously NOT! Same applies for the thoughts of “society” for you.

See, there is certain desire of yours that makes you happy. But before considering your thoughts, your happiness and that feeling of satisfaction you become so caring for the people around you. You distribute the importance of your thoughts and happiness to thoughts of others and let them rule on your desires. You fear chasing your desire because if you do then, “What Will The Society Think of You?”Right? Ask yourself again! Do you really think that your happiness holds even a little importance for the so called “society” of yours?

The reality is that every person acts as an expert in everything when he talks about the people around him. It does not even matter to them that whether you have done something good or bad. No one can stop them from criticizing your act be it right or wrong.

The choice is all yours. Either you become the master of your thoughts or be a slave of others thoughts to rule over yours. But choose wisely and remember nothing can overpower the level of energy and excitement that our dream induces. Just devote yourself for pursuing your desire without giving a thought to, “What Will The Society Think of You?”,Because to be honest “They Really Don’t Care!”.

P.S: Not even a single line in the above article is modulated by the concept of, “What Will The Society Think of Me?”.

  1. I went through this not just once but again and again and again. This is what I needed right now. All my dilemmas vanished into thin air, I want to pursue my dreams but this thought prevents me. I have decided that I am not paying any more heed to what the society says and does what makes me happy.

Unnecessary ghostly power controlling over our dreams, goals and happiness.
Better be our mindset answer to the question “what will the society think of me?” is I Don’t Care. And move on to pursue our dreams.
